Cadetship Opportunities

This program is part of the Digital Skills Cadetship Trial, an Australian Government initiative aimed at working with the tech industry to address its emerging digital skills needs.

 

As part of the Trial learners will undertake formal training along with a paid 12-week cadetship with some of Goanna’s Industry Partners. These cadetships will not only provide valuable on-the-job experience but may lead to employment opportunities at the end of the program.

Data Analytics

This Bootcamp will guide you through the journey of learning the skills required to become a Data Analyst. Goanna will provide an Industry-led program with content covering Excel, SQL, Python, PowerBI and Azure Fundamentals.

You will also be exposed to real industry projects and extended career support to build on your job readiness skills.

By the end of the program, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to perform these functions in the workplace:

  • Use fundamental programming language concepts
  • Carry out basic to intermediate level MS Excel Functions using Formulas, pivot tables
  • Create simple visualisations using visualisation tools to present Data

Cloud Architecture

The specialisation in cloud architecture has been designed to supplement students existing and acquired technical knowledge throughout the course.

Students will gain the ability to design, implement and improve cloud infrastructure using the AWS cloud platform as well as gain an understanding in how to apply these concepts in the Microsoft Azure platform.

The delivery mode is a blend of real-time virtual (synchronous online learning) facilitated by one of Goanna’s experienced trainers and self-paced learning which will be required to be completed outside of the virtual classroom.

This course also includes 12-week on-the-job learning with practical hands-on experience, mentoring and online guided training.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has partnered with Goanna Education to develop this in-demand nationally recognised qualification and is actively involved in all aspects of the program and compliance.

  • Goanna Education will manage enrolments, delivery of training and cadetship arrangements
  • ACS responsible for RPL, CT and issuance of certificates as well as reporting requirements to ASQA

Along with consultation with IT industry partners, this qualification has been designed as an intensive Bootcamp style program, with the intention to get candidates trained and employment-ready for a career in this rapidly changing industry.

This program also comes with future employment support upon successful completion of the qualification; in which Goanna Education will provide access to their network connections and employment gateways where possible to our industry partners. Although this does not guarantee employment outcomes it will provide candidates with the confidence to start their IT career journeys.

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

  • programming: building, testing and applying basic object-oriented language skills and software developments
  • front end web development: designing dynamic and complex websites, user experience solutions and documents using extensible mark-up languages
  • cloud architecture: developing, improving and designing cloud infrastructure, including disaster recovery plans

This course will still meet all the standard compliance requirements and has a 24 week* full-time study workload of 40 hours per week including virtual classroom sessions (35 hours per week) and self-guided learning (5 hours per week). The program will also include a 12-week internship with a mix of on the job training, practical hands-on experience as well as continuing virtual classroom sessions and self guided learning.

A comfortable workstation including an ergonomic desk and chair is required. There are minimal information technology requirements to optimally access the online learning system and resources:

  • A modern computer/laptop
    • RAM: Minimum: 4 GB; Recommended: 8 GB
    • Processor: Minimum: x64 Processor: 1.6 GHz; Recommended: 2.0 GHz or faster
    • Hard disk: Minimum: 50 GB+

The cadetship program will involve the following components

Step 4: Industry Certification exams

Step 5: Cadetship work placement activities

Step 6: ACS mentorship program (concurrent with cadetship)

Step 7: Program Completion

 

 

Goanna Education requires candidates to meet some entry requirements prior to enrolment to ensure that candidates have the required skills and knowledge to successfully complete the qualification at this level.

Candidates must:

  • Preferably be 24 years old and above at the time of enrolment.

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.  Permanent Residents are eligible for this program, however, they will not be considered for the on the job learning with Avanade. They will be supported by the Goanna Education Team for alternative cadetship opportunities.

  • Have completed Australian Year 10 or equivalent or above.

  • Achieve a satisfactory result in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment.

  • Complete Pre-enrolment activities which includes :

    • Pre-screening by Hudsons to determine if this is the right course for the candidate.

    • Must have a moderate level of computer literacy (Candidates may be required to qualify for a separate computer literacy test)

    • A learner intake Assessment to determine their ability to successfully participate and complete the program.

    • An interview on their overall suitability for this program

 

Students will undertake various activities in an informal and formal assessment setting. The main assessment methods for the units within this qualification include knowledge-based questions and a project for each Unit of Competency.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The upcoming course intake for this program will be funded through the Digital Skills Cadetship Trial. This Australian Government initiative is aimed at working with the tech industry to address its emerging digital skills needs.

As such the training fee for this program is $0 for eligible candidates. Please see the entry requirements on the next page for further details on this.

As part of the Digital Skills Cadetship Trial students who successfully complete the formal training component, will be eligible for a paid cadetship.

Payment to students regarding the cadetship will be the responsibility of host employers, however, Goanna Education will be aware of all arrangements and ensure students are treated fairly and to industry standards.
